Professor Samuel Oak is a Pokémon Professor and Gary Oak's grandfather.
History[]
As a boy, Oak (called Sammy Oak at the time)started his journey with a Charmeleon when he strode into a forest and saved a Celebi from a Pokémon Poacher and was carried off 40 years into the future. He then met Ash Ketchum and his friends. They went on an adventure to protect Celebi from the Iron-Masked Marauder until Sammy and Celebi returned to the past.
40 years later, Oak gave a Squirtle to his grandson Gary and a Pikachu to Ash. He continued to support Ash, Misty and Brock and he and his friend Delia Ketchum watched him in the Indigo Plateau Conference and Johto League Silver Conference. He gives a Squirtle to May and later a Bulbasaur to the mayor's son Gilbert.
He also keeps Ash's team in rotation during the Lily of the Valley Conference until after the conference, then later goes with Delia and Ash to Unova and promises to keep Ash's Pokémon safe at his lab. Ash also contacts him at Nimbasa City, but just as he is calling Tracey, Team Rocket cuts off communications.
