The Pokédex is a device created by Professor Oak to give new Pokémon Trainers information about Pokémon.

History[]

In Pokémon 4Ever, Sammy Oak travelled to the future and met the future Ash Ketchum, who explained the Pokédex to him and gave young Oak the idea. 40 years later, Oak invented this device himself and it was programmed by Professor Westwood V. He later gave it to new Pokémon Trainers, including Ash himself and Professor Elm, Professor Birch, Professor Rowan and Professor Juniper soon created their own Pokédexes for new trainers.

Types of Pokédex[]

The Kanto Pokédex has lots of buttons, information on Wild Pokémon and even a switch that activates an exchange between Pokémon stored at Professor Oak's Laboratory and those On hand. Ash's Pokédex and Gary's Pokédex were both red. During Ash and May's travels through the Kanto Battle Frontier, it was redesigned with icons on the left and a panel on the right to scan Pokémon. Sinnoh[]

The Sinnoh Pokédex has a system to select info on Pokémon, and two screens to show pictures of the Pokémon. It also has an extendable system to scan a Poké Ball and see what moves the Caught Pokémon can use.
